Chanterelle Cabin
Much like its namesake, this home is both at one with its environment and a shining example of simple elegant beauty: Welcome to the Chanterelle Cabin.
About Chanterelle Cabin
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to get off the grid? Do you often feel as if you're far too engrossed in screens and an endless stream of bad news? Are your 21st century responsibilities overwhelming and oppressive? Could you do without neighbors (or people in general) for a little while? Have you ever dreamt of running into the woods and embracing your inner forest gnome, sprite or dryad? If so, we invite you to leave it all behind for a stay in Chanterelle Cabin.
Deep in the forest, with the closest little town (itself not much more than a crossroads on the highway) several miles away, is a quaint little cabin that looks like it belongs more to some fae realm than to our own. The little grove in which it lies is tranquil, the most common sounds being the birds in the trees, the wind in the branches, and the gently flowing waters of the nearby Cispus River, a remote tributary of the Cowlitz. It is the perfect place to completely disconnect and focus on yourself and on the world around you, or on passions that modern life leaves very little room for.
Come and see for yourself exactly what inspired great authors and conservationists such as Thoreau and Whitman. An emerald haven, seemingly untouched by time, or by man. Reject modernity, at least for a while, and embrace nature's traditions here at Chanterelle Cabin.
More About Chanterelle Cabin
As the dirt footpath winds away from the two track road, the cabin emerges from the trees to greet you with a front porch made for a summer's evening. A wood bench table and a porch swing invite the adults to sip an iced tea and take in the view of the mountains through the trees while the kids play in the small yard or out back on the swingset. Wander a little further through the trees near the house and you'll find yourself walking along the banks of the Cispus River.
The cabin itself is the very definition of cozy given form. Wood paneled walls and ceilings, a cast iron, old fashioned wood burning stove and an open concept kitchen and living space make the cabin's main room a warm and friendly space to make a meal with family or play cards with friends. The (now) decorative oil wick lanterns complete the feeling that you've stepped back into a simpler time. We believe a stay here will help even the most tightly wound and overworked person re-center themselves and remember that which is truly important in life.
